Prepress, relink of same pictures are...

We have recently had an upgrade ( new computer) which has meant that all software has been reinstalled.

We are curently using CS and CS3 for Adobe Indesign.

Since the upgrade and when we have to use the old CS, and when updating resampled images( turning pics to 300dpi only, no extending pasteboard in photoshop). When I relink?to the newly saved files, the imaged still retains the original percentage that it was placed indesign, therefore it shrinks and moves out of cropped position. Prior to Upgrade this never happened, and popped back in same postion even after a resize.

On CS 3 in ' filehandling under preferences there is an option to 'Relink Preserve dimensions' which is all good, but I cannot find simular option for CS Version. Why would this work before and not now? is there a plug-in or patch or upgrade for CS that will make this work? Please can somebody help me! and quick!

cheers

Prepress, relink of same pictures are...

Go to Edit%26gt;Preference%26gt;File Handling and under the section for images the option to Relink Preserves Dimensions.

Prepress, relink of same pictures are...

That option did not exist in CS.

Bob

Thats right Bob,?that option 'Preserve Relink Dimensions' does not exist in CS

Which is puzzling, as prior to the recent reinstallation of all the softwares, relink was working fine after resampling/resizing in CS

Now I have to keep all images original size which sometimes is not practical. So if I do resize them, I then have to place images again, which takes forever, and in the world of Prepress we haven't got time for stuff like that.

I know you all thinking why not use CS3 onwards, and mostly we do, but still have to use CS due to some of our suppliers.

Aha!!! I have solved the problem, please stay with me on this one. Under Indesign CS (Indesign3.0) resizing images in Photoshop caused the image to move in Indesign, but with the Indesign 3.01 Upgrade, That was installed prior to the Hardware Upgrade, they solved that problem. I just didnt have the correct upgrade in Indesign. Now it is all good. Thanks All
