Encore CS4 crashes during build

I have a Blu-ray project setup in Encore. I've burned many versions of it to a BD Folder and also a BD-RE disc. Worked fine. But then Encore crashed. Now I can open the file but everytime I check the project or burn to a folder or a disc it crashes. Too much work to rebuild the project with subtitles so I am hoping for a workaround. I've seen lots of old (and mostly PC - I'm on a MAC) CS3 references to the same problem.

Oh, and by the way Adobe (if you're listening). It would be easy to rebuild the project if you could copy and paste subtitle tracks. You can copy and paste just about everything you do on a computer, but for some reason subtitle tracks are set in stone.

And I'm on a Mac Pro, Snow Leopard (and yes, I've built a disc since installing the upgrade), 4gb of RAM and an internal Apple RAID 5 hard drive array.

Clean out your transcode files and have Encore rebuild them. Most likely they simply got damaged during the crash and whenever Encore tries to access them, it bums out.

Encore CS4 crashes during build

Thanks. Good advice, but already tried with no success. I thought that was for sure the problem. Here is that last ditch effort to find out what caused this to avoid it in the future. I had 10 timelines, all with subtitles. I needed those subtitles exported so I could rebuild a new project. I right clicked the subtitle track in each of the timelines and exported it as a txt file. It worked for 9 or the 10. On the 10th, it crashed as soon as I right clicked in the timeline. So I went a step further to isolate it. I trashed all the timelines except the problem one. within that timeline I deleted the audio and video so it is just the subtitle track. I deleted all my video and audio assets. So my project is now just a single timeline with only a subtitle track. I trashed the cache and reopened and still it crashes when I right click in the subtitle track.

I managed to rebuild the project successfully. This time I imported .mov movies rather than the transcoded files from Adobe Media Encoder. I decided maybe it was better to let Encore do the transcoding (this is for a Blu-ray project by the way). Anyway, it all works fine now.

My history with Encore on the Mac is that it is very unstable. I have to save a lot because you never know when it will crash. This goes back to CS3 as well.
