Can't open Encore

I go Start: All Programs: Adobe Master Collection: The Encore Icon comes up and does it thing for a few seconds and then, Bleep....it goes off screen, back to my desktop.

All my other Adobe programs will open from the Master Collection???

I want to open a project to begin learning how to use Encore to author my edited project in Pre Pro CS3. I can't get it to open.

Is there another way to get to Encore with a project? Help.

Thanks Again

Jim

Can't open Encore

When Encore goes to launch, there are a couple small lines of text on the Splash Screen. They go by pretty quickly. What is the last line that you see, before Encore quits?

If you are on a PC, this ARTICLE might help gather some ''clues,'' as to what is going on, when Encore crashes.

Good luck,

Hunt

Can't open Encore

I deleted the Media Cache File and Encore stayed running a few seconds

longer then it stopped. The last thing to read was: ''Come for Blue Ray -

Stay for the Flash''.

The last thing to read was: ''Come for Blue Ray - Stay for the Flash''.

I am sorry I am so ignorant about all this:

1.) Did Event Viewer yield any clues? Were there any error, or warning messages?

When I opened Event Viewer it did show a lot of error and warning messages.

2.) Did any of them have links?

I did not see anything about Encore??? Not sure what to look for???

3.) Also, have you updated your audio and video drivers? Either of these, if not up to date, can cause issues.

I saw a lot of downloads on Google that promised to update all drives. I was not certain which program would be the best for my particular application. When I downloaded ''Detective'' for free it said I had 8 Drives that needed to be updated and 1 that had no driver. It was $29.95, not really free, and since I was confused I stopped any further progress.

Oh...one last thought: If I was to purchase and install a new copy of Encore CS3 would that solve my problems? It seems like the simplest thing to do due to my limited computer skills. I really want to get Encore up and running so I can complete my project.

Jim

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Those programs that claim to update your computer are sometimes more trouble than they are worth

Of course, you DO need to know what hardware you have...

Control Panel -- System -- Hardware -- Device Manager will help... as will the documentation with the computer

You would go to the web site for the hardware brand to download drivers for video card and sound card... or the brand %26amp; model motherboard if you are using onboard devices

Updating to a new/different Encore is very unlikely to help... if you can't run the one you have, a different one won't magically run

Thank You John, THAT is what I needed to hear.

I will check things out as you prescribed. I feel like this is something I can learn to do. Downloading the exact drivers I need makes sense.

Unfortunatly I do not have any paperwork with my computer. It was built by a person who I no longer can reach.

I did install Belarc Advisor and it gave me some information.

I, with you guys and girls help, will get this issure resolved.

Thanks JIm

%26gt;built by a person who I no longer can reach

Hmm... I've built computers (for myself and friends) and I make sure to give ALL paperwork along with the computer

Ok... AFTER the Control Panel route, if you don't have the information you need, turn everything off and remove the side panel and look at what you have (have a flashlight handy)

Write down any names and/or models you can see on motherboard and plug-in cards

OK, I will do that. Going to be away for a while. Gotta' run to Tulsa and help a friend. Be back.

I found this and thought it was interesting:

''Re: How to fix Adobe Encore CS3 Crash ! ! ! READ by Abel Del on Jun 1, 2008 at 8:31:24 pm

Hi there!, I tried to load a cd/dvd on the drive...did not work!.... After a couples of days I finally hit the jackpot! ..here is how fix the Adobe Encore Cs3 Crash at the beginning..

The Issue was the Windows CD/DVD ASPI drivers for my DVD/CDs drive/s. yes!!!!! encore get stuck on the splash /loading screen when is displaying the ''Come for the blu-ray, stay for the flash''.?so here is the fix that worked for me:

Before you try anything else, give the latest drivers (version 4.71) from Adaptec a try. They are supposed to work under 98/ME/NT/2K/XP and don't care if you don't have an Adaptec SCSI card installed. http://download.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2.exe

The first thing to check is to make sure that you have a fully functional set of driver files. Adaptec has produced a tool called ASPICHK which will tell you all about the health and version numbers of the drivers on your system.

when you unzipped the files inside there is a tool called ''aspichk.exe''.?then if you are running XP just double clink on the ''aspiinst.exe'' , reboot your system and done!!! to ensure that the you new drivers are installed run again the ''aspichk.exe''.

hope this helps!!! it worked for me like a charm. after trying everything. Adobe Encore CS3 load fast as ever!!! SWEEEET!!!!?cheers.?Abel''

This is what I read. The only difference is he was working with XP-32 bit.?I am running Vista-64 bit. They are not intended for Vista-64. I tried to run http://download.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2.exe before I realized that and it did not work.

I just though this might be of some interest to you folks. I was excited until it woud not work on my system.

Oh well back to the HUNT...

''

Does MS have an ASPI update for Vista-64?

Does Adaptec have one on their site?

Have you tried updating the firmware for your particular DVD burner?

Did Event Viewer show you something like ''Device Driver'' problems? Often, those links will have links to the mfgr's Web site for an update.

Good luck,

Hunt
