Hello all---
I should preface my comments by stating up front that I am not a technical person at all, so I'm pretty much stumbling my way through this issue.?Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.
I am creating a slideshow, using 25+ photos, 20+ text slides, and an audio track [an mp3 combined from 4 sources] mixed using Soundbooth.
Like I said, I'm clueless about this stuff, so I did a little searching to see which program would be easiest for my first slideshow.?[I have the CS4 suite of programs.]?I came across a tutorial here that showed how to make a slideshow in Encore, and I was sold.
I spent most of the evening tonight putting together the slideshow, tweaking it repeatedly to get it where I wanted it.?When I finally had it finished, I looked for a way to export it into some other file format I could use [.mov, .mpg, .avi] and upload onto YouTube or another hosting site.
And I'm stuck.
It appears that those options aren't available in Encore...which is a real bummer if it's true.
I appreciate any suggestion or help anyone can offer.?It appears that Encore will let me burn the slideshow to a DVD.?Is there a way to then rip the video from it into a format that I could then upload to YouTube?
Thanks so much for your time and help.
matt
Slideshow questionsYes, you're stuck.?Encore is a DVD authoring program, and its end result is a DVD.?You can find, on your hard drive, the transcoded files, but they'll be in mpeg format.?There will be a quality hit if you convert those.
Premiere or After Effects is the better slideshow program, but, no, they are not quick and easy, automatic/random transition programs.?There are quick options for web based slideshows, but I have not used them.
Slideshow questionsStan---
Thanks for the reply.

Okay.?I'm not that familiar with Premiere, but can't it be used to capture video??I burned the DVD of the slideshow using Encore last night, and it looks great, even when viewed in full-screen mode.
Could I use Premiere to capture the slideshow and export it into a more web-friendly format??The end product will be uploaded to YouTube, so it's not as if I need an HD-quality capture.?It's basically a fund-raising slideshow for a benefit walk---I need to get a message across, but it doesn't have to be super-high-quality.?[Of course, the better it is, the happier I'll be, but it sounds like I don't have many options at this point.]
So, if it's possible to capture the slideshow in Premiere, can you offer some guidance or point me to a web tutorial?
Thanks again for the reply, and I appreicate your time.

Could I use Premiere to capture the slideshow and export it into a more web-friendly format? To maintain the best quality, Stanely is correct that PrPro is the better program to produce your SlideShow for uploading, or distributing via something besides DVD-Video.
For questions on using PrPro for producing and editing a SlideShow, the PrPro forum would be the best place to ask. Be sure to list the version of PrPro that you are working with, as there will likely be some differences in the exact steps. See you there.
Good luck,

A couple more comments:
Oops, I see that you DO have CS4. Sorry that I had missed that the first time around - my apologies, and please ignore my question regarding the version number.
Now, two tips:
1.) when doing your audio work in Soundbooth, it would be better to Save_As PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit, instead of MP3, which is highly compressed. Your Audio will be much better.
2.) in PrPro, you can use the Titler to create your ''text slides.'' It's a pretty powerful sub-program (opens within PrPro), and has some useful text management features, plus limited ''Shape'' features for graphics elements.
Good luck,
Hunt
There's an ad on the Youtube upload page for AVS Video converter (I use an older version at times).?It will convert your .vob.
Youtube says it likes mpeg2; try renaming your vob to mpg.?I don't generally like such methods, but maybe you'll get lucky.
